you are what you listen

...as some of you may know (if you've read my about me post)...i am a third year fashion student...this year is the most exciting and stressful...getting to create our own collection...over summer i have been thinking of ideas for this collection...i thought id share with you all what i am currently doing/thinking for this collection...one that has stuck in my head for the majority of the summer is based on the idea of...you are what you listen...

...you are what you listen...started off by looking into 'indie' type bands and seeing what they wear, how they style etc...i found this linked on well with what is known as 'hipster' trying to style/wear things that are a bit different...not as mainstream/on trend (even though this can be argued to be a trend within itself)...i have researched into the modern day 'hipster' as well as going back to the 60's where this was a big thing back then but known as 'beatniks'...'beatniks' were the 'hipsters' of the early 60's...looking at people like audrey hepburn in funny face and serge gainsbourg and jane birkin...all fashion icons from back then...i found all these styles and clothes were quite masculine...feminine but strong lines and shapes making the all together feel more masculine...

...this is obviously a quick brief summary of my initial thought process and how things have currently linked...in my head anyway...here are a few of my initial rough sketches which are the beginning of the start of my collection...
